I help women understand what’s happening in menopause - and know what to do next
I know what it feels like when your body stops responding the way it used to.
Evidence-informed menopause health coaching for women navigating perimenopause, menopause and midlife wellbeing.
Why I do this work
My name is Phillipa Jacobs-Smith. I came to menopause health coaching the way most people come to their best work - through direct, personal experience of exactly the problem I now help others navigate.
I had spent years in health and fitness. I understood training, nutrition, consistency. So when things started to shift in my 40s - energy, strength, body composition - it genuinely didn't make sense. I was doing what had always worked.
"I'm doing everything I'm supposed to do. So why is this getting harder?"
That's when I realised: the problem wasn't effort. The rules had changed - and nobody had explained what the new ones were, or how to apply them.
This is what I now see in almost every person I work with. Not a beginner who hasn't tried. Someone who has tried consistently - and is frustrated that it's still not clicking.
Closing the Menopause Action Gap™ isn't about doing more. It's about understanding what's actually changed in your body, focusing on what genuinely matters now, and building an approach that holds up even on the hard weeks.
You're probably not starting from zero.
You've read the articles. You've adjusted your diet. You've tried to stay consistent. But something still isn't translating.
That's not a lack of effort. That's the Menopause Action Gap™ - the space between knowing what to do and being able to make it work in your life.
My background
My approach combines behaviour change coaching, menopause education, nutrition and lifestyle support, grounded in both professional training and lived experience.
UKIHCA Registered Health & Nutrition Coach
CPD training in menopause and midlife health
25+ years in health, fitness and wellbeing
Former Deputy Head of a London university sport and leisure department
Elite junior middle-distance athlete
I continue to build on this through ongoing professional development and by staying close to current research in menopause and midlife women’s health - ensuring my approach remains evidence-informed and grounded in real life.
I work within the UKIHCA Scope of Practice . Coaching is educational and supportive in nature and does not replace medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
I don't lecture you on the science. I help you understand what’s actually happening - and what to do about it.
I don't hand you a generic plan. I ask the questions that help you see what's really going on - the connection between your 3pm slump and what happened at breakfast, why you're doing everything "right" but still not sleeping.
I don't just tell you what to do. I coach you through actually doing it. Not "eat more protein", but "let's figure out why you're not, what's getting in the way and how to make it easier."
Most people I work with don't need more discipline. They need someone to help them make sense of what's happening - and apply it in a way that fits their life.
How we close the Menopause Action Gap™
Nutrition that works for your body now
Not another set of rules - but understanding what your body actually needs, and how to make it consistent.
Movement that builds strength, not exhausts
Strength and movement strategies designed for midlife, preserving muscle and bone health while actually fitting into real life.
Sleep and stress that stop working against you
Practical tools to restore sleep quality, manage cortisol and regain mental clarity - because you can't willpower your way through exhaustion.
Gut health that supports everything else
Targeted nutrition to relieve bloating, identify sensitivities and support overall digestive health.
Habits that actually stick
Not perfect routines - realistic ones that fit your life and keep working long-term.
Support through GLP-1 transition (if relevant)
Clear, steady guidance to help stabilise appetite, balance nutrition and maintain your progress as your body adjusts.
This is about understanding your body - and finally feeling like you’re working with it, not against it.

Inclusive support
At The Menopause Health Coach, everyone deserves to feel heard, respected and supported.
While many of the people I work with are women in midlife, I want to be clear - menopause experiences are not limited to cisgender women. Trans men and non-binary people may also navigate symptoms and health changes associated with menopause and deserve access to the same informed, compassionate support.
Whoever you are, coaching is always tailored to you. Your body, your life, your experience. My role is to create a space that feels safe and genuinely non-judgemental - where we can have honest conversations and build sustainable changes that actually work for the life you're living.
What working together looks like
You don't need to keep second-guessing what your body needs
Let's work out what's actually happening - and what to do next
