A 60-Minute Menopause Consultation
Sometimes you don't need a twelve-week programme. You simply need time to talk things through with someone who understands menopause, listens carefully and helps you make sense of what's happening and what to do next.
You'll also receive a written summary afterwards, so you don't have to hold everything in your head.
That's what this is.
Who this
consultation is for
Many of the people I work with are women, but I also support anyone experiencing perimenopause or menopause who feels my approach is the right fit for them.
You might be at the beginning of all of this - trying to make sense of symptoms that have crept up gradually and not quite sure where to start.
Or you might already have some support in place - perhaps you've recently started HRT, or had a conversation with your GP - but you're left with questions that didn't get answered in a ten-minute appointment.
Or something specific has changed. Your sleep has deteriorated. Your weight is shifting in ways you don't understand. You've started a GLP-1 medication and you're not sure how to manage your nutrition alongside it. (Learn about GLP-1 and Menopause here)
Or perhaps you'd simply like the time and space to talk things through with someone who understands menopause and will listen carefully.
This isn't a medical appointment. It's dedicated time to explore how nutrition, movement, sleep, stress and behaviour change fit alongside any medical care you're already receiving.
This consultation is for all of those situations.
What happens before we meet
Once you've booked, you'll receive a short intake form to complete at your own pace. It covers your current symptoms, any relevant health history, what you're taking or have tried and what you most want to get from the session.
It doesn't need to be exhaustive. Just enough for me to arrive prepared, so we can use our time well rather than spending the first twenty minutes on background.
What happens during the consultation
As a UKIHCA-accredited Certified Nutrition and Health Coach specialising in perimenopause and menopause, my role is to help you make sense of the evidence and apply it in a way that fits your life.
We meet online for sixty minutes via video call.
I'll start by listening - not just to what you've written on the form, but to how you describe things in your own words. Often that's where the most useful information sits.
From there, the session is led by what's most useful to you. That might mean working through a specific question in depth. It might mean taking a broader look at how several things connect - your nutrition, your sleep, your stress levels, your symptoms - and helping you see a clearer picture of what's going on and why.
I'll explain what the evidence tells us in plain English, without oversimplifying it. I'll be honest when something is straightforward and equally honest when the picture is more nuanced.
What I won't do is tell you what you want to hear if it isn't accurate, or suggest changes that aren't realistic for your life.
If, during our conversation, it becomes clear that your symptoms need medical assessment or fall outside my scope of practice, I'll tell you honestly and help you understand what the next step might be. My role is to work alongside your doctor or specialist, not replace them.
What you'll leave with
You'll leave with:
✓ A clearer understanding of what's happening and why
✓ Practical next steps tailored to your situation
✓ A written summary by email within 48 hours - not a generic document, but notes from our actual conversation that you can refer back to whenever you need them
✓ Greater confidence about what to prioritise next
✓ Honest guidance on whether further support - coaching, a doctor’s conversation, or a specialist referral - is worth considering
What you won't receive is a protocol designed for someone else, a long list of changes to implement all at once, or generic information that isn't specific to your situation.
Topics we can cover
Our conversation isn't limited to a fixed agenda. Whatever is most relevant to you is what we'll focus on. People often use the session to explore things such as:
-
Making sense of symptoms - what's likely to be hormonal, what might have other causes, and what the evidence says
-
Nutrition during perimenopause or menopause - what actually matters, and what doesn't
-
Strength, movement and why exercise may not be working the way it used to
-
Sleep - what's disrupting it and what tends to help
-
Stress, cortisol, and how they interact with menopause symptoms
-
Recently started HRT - what it does and doesn't address and what nutrition and lifestyle can do alongside it
-
GLP-1 medications and menopause - nutritional considerations, muscle preservation, what to be aware of
-
Preparing for a doctor, gynaecologist or specialist appointment
-
Deciding whether twelve weeks of coaching would be a worthwhile next step
If you're not sure whether your question fits - it almost certainly does. If it doesn't, I'll tell you that honestly and point you somewhere more useful.
Is one consultation enough?
Sometimes, yes. For some women, a single session provides exactly the clarity they were looking for - a better understanding of what's happening, a specific set of things to try, and the confidence to move forward.
For others, the consultation surfaces something more complex, or raises questions that point towards more sustained support. When that's the case, I'll say so - not to sell you something, but because it would be the honest answer.
A consultation is a good starting point if you:
Have something you're trying to make sense of
Are trying to decide whether coaching is the right next step
Want evidence-informed guidance on one area without committing to a full programme
Are early in your menopause journey and want a clearer map of where you are
It may not be enough on its own if you're managing multiple overlapping symptoms that have been building for some time, or if what you're looking for is an ongoing structure and accountability. In those cases, the twelve-week programmes are designed for exactly that.
If you’d prefer to begin by building your understanding at your own pace, Menopause Essentials offers a structured self-paced programme covering the same evidence-informed foundations. Some people choose the programme first, then book a consultation when they’re ready for more personalised guidance.
When coaching might be worth considering instead
A consultation gives you clarity and practical next steps. Coaching provides ongoing personalised support over twelve weeks - helping you put those changes into practice and adapt them as life changes.
If you already know you're looking for accountability, sustained support, and a programme built around your circumstances, coaching is likely to be the better fit. Learn about coaching here.
If you're unsure, a consultation is a good place to begin.
Why do the consultations
last sixty minutes?
Sixty minutes is usually enough to explore one situation properly without feeling rushed. It's long enough to listen carefully, ask the right questions and work through what's most useful - without the session becoming overwhelming.
If, during our conversation, it becomes clear that you'd benefit from more ongoing support, we can discuss that afterwards.
A few questions people often ask
-
No. A consultation is a focused, standalone session. Coaching is an ongoing programme built around progressive change over twelve weeks. They're different in scope, structure and what they're designed to achieve.
-
No - and I'd be cautious of anyone who did in a single sixty-minute session. Whether HRT is right for you is a clinical decision that belongs with your doctor or a menopause specialist. What I can do is help you understand what HRT does and doesn't address, what questions are worth asking at your appointment and how nutrition and lifestyle fit alongside it.
-
Yes, often more so. Many people find that the questions they have after a medical appointment - about nutrition, about exercise, about why certain symptoms are persisting - aren't ones their doctor has the time or remit to address in depth. That's exactly where this session tends to be most useful.
-
That's absolutely possible, and a number of people do. If it feels like the right next step after we've spoken, we'll talk about how that would work.
-
Sessions cancelled with more than 48 hours' notice can be rescheduled. Please refer to the booking terms for the full cancellation policy.
-
Yes. Sessions are delivered online via video call and are available across the UK and internationally.
